If so, them what is the value of it anyway?
Just justification of sex and reproduction, or even our reason for caring about anything at all?
I think it is an excuse for our existence!

I see love as a nurturance for humanity, that makes it possible for us to nurture and empathize with others. -

Re: Do you believe in Love?
Sun, July 22, 2007 - 7:36 PMHow real is it though?
It seems people use it as way to get you to trust them and do things for them.
Even a excuse for harming and even killing.(if you 'love' you God)
Is it worth the pain you feel when it is gone? -

Re: Do you believe in Love?
Wed, September 5, 2007 - 2:19 PMYou cannot experience love if it doesn't excist.
David, you said something that love is the nutritiant for humanity. Thats why there is so much hunger in the world, I presume.
Do I believe in love? No. Do I believe in pain? No. Etc.
One has pain or not. Pain is not going to solve the problems of the world.
One has love or not. Love is not going to solve the problems of the world.
Pain at least I can feel and I can do things to relieve it. Love can be killing.
I don't believe in Love. It is there or it is not. Do you believe in rain?

Re: Do you believe in Love?
Wed, September 5, 2007 - 2:29 PMPrayoga,
You draw a curious semantic distinction between the fact of something's existence and the belief in its existence. If we agree on a definition for pain, and we agree on a fact that it exists, then I really don't understand how that can be distinguished from the belief in its existence. Love is more complicated because there are several forms of it, but the same principle applies.
I see the claims that love and pain will not solve the problems of the world as irrelevant; we are considering the problem of existence rather than function. And yes, I believe in rain. My faith in rain is confirmed every winter. -

Hmm, value? Does love have value? I'll have to think on that for awhile. It's hard enough to describe love, let alone put a value on it. It seems to cover the whole spectrum from near worthless to as priceless as living itself. I suppose it depends on what it is that is being loved and in what manner if love has value.
Sex does not require love. As for reproduction, almost all the sex I've ever experienced has not had that as a part of it. When love is present with sex it is different for me than sex for sex alone. It's not always possible to tell when such is the case as sex almost always has a love context or overtones for myself. Still, there's always those meaningful one night relationships too. :) What about romantic love that doesn't necessarily revolve around sex?
Existence does not require love either. The post about the DNA and chemical reaction has something to it.
I think the problem for me trying to answer or reply to this post is that your definition of love is not clear. Love is hard to define, but easy to recognize when it's present in most cases.
