DISCUSSION:
The following is taken directly from an LA times artical:
WASHINGTON -- President Bush called Tuesday [2-24-2004] for a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage, saying same-sex weddings threaten "the most fundamental institution of civilization."
"Ages of experience have taught humanity that the commitment of a husband and wife to love and to serve one another promotes the welfare of children and the stability of society," Bush said. "Marriage cannot be severed from its cultural, religious and natural roots without weakening the good influence of society."

Re: Gay Marriages
Wed, February 25, 2004 - 7:53 AMOur president is a fucking moron...
First of all, this is a prime example of an "authority" forcing beliefs on those it claims authority over. The united states was founded on the fact that one should be free regardless of their religion or lack thereof. Why then does our president, the most prestigeous position in our government, believe that it is ok to force his religious beliefs on us time and time again.
I put alot of effort into the premise of live and let live. If something doesn't effect me in ANY way, then I shouldn't worry about it. I don't care if gays get married, that doesn't make ME gay, that doesn't mean that I have to watch them have sex with each other. I don't even have to acknowledge their presence if I choose not to. So how can it effect me? am I a special case? No. -

Re: Gay Marriages
Sat, April 10, 2004 - 7:16 PMIt's really quite simple. Marriage has little to nothing to do with the foundation of a good society, or the good currently found in ours. So, on that basis alone, one can easily conclude that President Bush is a lying moron. Or a moronic liar. Take your pick.
